WhatsApp for Android is updated to version 2.17.256

WhatsApp for Android, in its beta version, has been updated to version 2.17.256, an update where we will not find big changes apparent, as in the previous version 2.17.255, although this time they have been modified and added many more files.

We continue to wait for the albums that have been activated to be turned off in version 2.17.243, so we will have to wait for the next update to see if they come back. There were also changes in the new call interface and their colorful icons, which have disappeared, and is that when making calls no longer appears the icon of the contact, when making video calls is still activated the new interface.

Internal changes in WhatsApp for Android 2.17.256

In this new beta version of WhatsApp for Android we have noticed a significant change in the installation file of the application, and it has been reduced in size by 399 KB, almost everything related to the file resources.arsc. Also 366 files have been modified and added the file “live_location_list_divider.xml”, related to the location in real time.

We are still waiting for the activation of hidden functions, such as Text Status, filters of multimedia files or revoke sent messages. A function whose FAQ published WhatsApp in its official page and was eliminated soon, we still do not know the why.
