WhatsApp for Android is updated in version 2.17.236

If you download the latest version of WhatsApp for Android, in its beta version, you will see that there are not many changes in the application, perhaps the most significant and puzzling is that the limit number of users in a group does not already appear, which could indicate that could increase the number of members of a group of 256.

It’s the only change that we can see in the new version 2.17.236, and maybe if you’re lucky you could also see that you can now attach any type of file without compression, a new feature that is only activating some users remotely. We do not know WhatsApp criteria to choose this type of users.

WhatsApp for Android internal changes

Internally the APK, the installation file, of WhatsApp for Android has increased by 164 KB, with 519 files modified, in addition to adding 6 new files, among which we find 3 new icons to get an animation of the location in the real-time location, a new font type for Text Status and the “device_expired.xml” files, which tells us if our version has expired and “status_playback_text.xml”, related to the reproduction of Text Status.

Seeing how the company is working on the latest update, it appears that Text Status and real-time location might be closer than other functions that are still hidden in the application, such as filters of multimedia files, revoke sent messages and the emoji browser.
